Taiwan Motor Transport Taipei North Station

This renewal unit is located on the northwest side of the former Taiwan Motor Transport Taipei North Station, as demarcated by the Taipei City Government under the Demarcation of Urban Renewal Areas in Taipei City, publicly announced on June 26, 2000. The original urban renewal project plan was approved by the Taipei City Government on April 22, 2011, under Letter No. 10030243901, with the first amendment approved on March 28, 2013, under Letter No. 10230244502.

The renewal unit comprises solely the former Taipei Rear Station Warehouse of the Taiwan Governor-General Monopoly Bureau, a two-story brick structure constructed prior to 1912, serving as a warehouse of the Taipei Tobacco Factory of the Taiwan Governor-General Monopoly Bureau during the Japanese colonial rule. The building featured characteristics of warehouse architecture, including large spans, timber trusses, and a rectangular layout. It is the oldest surviving building in the vicinity of Taipei Main Station, retaining significant historical value due to the widespread demolition of surrounding colonial-era structures. However, decades of neglect had caused it to lose much of its original appearance. To consolidate commercial land within the Taipei Main Station Special Purpose District, the Taipei City Government plans to further optimize surrounding land use and construct a commercial high-rise, aiming to re-present the heritage building with a renewed appearance. The warehouse was officially registered as a historic building on February 20, 2006, and its adaptive reuse plan was approved by the Taipei City Cultural Heritage Review Committee on January 14, 2009.

Within the project site, a demolition permit for the historic Taipei Rear Station Warehouse of the Taiwan Governor-General Monopoly Bureau was granted on April 23, 2012, and the structure was subsequently demolished on September 18, 2012. Future preservation and reconstruction will proceed in accordance with approvals from the relevant competent authorities. This renewal unit is located within Taipei City's major transportation and commercial hub of Taipei City. To the southeast, approximately 70 meters from the site, lies Taipei Main Station, while Q Square Mall is situated to the east. The surrounding area is predominantly commercial, whereas the current use of the renewal unit is inconsistent with the planned land use. Consequently, urban renewal is urgently needed to promote the district's development.
